Lady Rose Cecil

For all of her life, Lady Rose Cecil has been a working artist working in many different media. Before starting a family she traveled frequently, producing paintings and photographs that were exhibited. A few years ago she returned to Camberwell College (London) to take a degree  course in sculpture. For the last 10 years Lady Rose designed, created and exhibited jewellery all over the UK. Next year she plans to write about a Cornish shipwreck of the 19thCentury.

Lady Rose has traveled widely, starting with a round-the-world trip at 21 years. It was then that she first rode a motorcycle . . . in Bali! She tells the tale like this: “I hired a motorbike from a man who demanded proof that I had a license. Luckily, I had a dog license with me and after staring at it upside-down for a while, he pronounced himself satisfied. I asked him to remind me how to ride the bike (having absolutely no idea) and set off, will my pillion passenger . . . . Once I got back in the UK I got my bike license and have been riding motorcycles ever since. Indeed for a few years it was my only form of transportation until I was seduced by the appeal of an ancient Fiat Cinquecento, know as “Lucrezia” after Lucrezia Borgia. More recently, I joined Nicholas Fairfax and his team for the White Nights Ride, a charitable motorcycle rally from Vladivostok to St. Petersburg.”

On May 1st, Lady Rose will be in a team of five (5) motorcyclist – The Band of Bikers – taking part in the Bangkok2Tbilisi 2018 Rally, with a ride from Bangkok to Thiblisi (about 7,500 miles through 12 countries) for ActionAidUK, a charity the works in over 40 countries worldwide, mainly helping women and girds in the poorest and most disadvantaged places on the globe.
